FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS
EMBOSS/DEBOSS PRINTING ONTO PAPER STOCK
Embossing Vs. Debossing?
Embossing is the process of imprinting a raised image in a material. Debossing is the opposite, it's the process of creating a recessed/depressed image
What paper can be embossed?
Embossing can be done on most natural card stock
How do I set up the artwork?
Bolder lines and open details will work best, while closed detail and finer lines don't allow for enough space to press/puff the material. It's a good idea to avoid serif fonts for embossing. Use borders to achieve definition, they can be separate, enclosing the art, or part of the design.
Is there a minimum order for embossing?
There are no minimums for embossing/debossing, but because of the die that needs to be created there is a setup charge so the process is more cost effective on larger orders.
How much does it cost?
Cost will depend on a number of factors including how many you're wanting? For an accurate quote on embossing or debossing contact us.
HEAT TRANSFER ONTO MATERIAL
What is a heat press?
A heat press is a machine that imprints a design on the surface of an item, such as a t-shirt, by applying heat and pressure.
Are there different types of heat transfers?
Yes there are, common types include; heat transfer vinyl that's been cut, printable heat transfer vinyl, inkjet transfer paper, laser transfer paper, and plasisol transfers.
So couldn't I do this myself at home?
You could, there are many different ways to heat transfer designs to items though, which means there's also different levels of quality. Using a iron with inkjet or laser transfer paper is not going to give you the same result as using printable or cad cut heat transfer vinyl with a professional heat press machine. Also home based heat transfer applications can typically only be applied to white or light colored garments.
Is there a minimum order on heat transfers?
No, and it is you're most cost effective solution for low quantity apparel orders.
Is a heat press only for fabric items?
T-shirts and other garment items such as bags or sweaters are one of the most common items that a heat press is used for. However heat transfers can be applied to a number of products, including promotional items, such as mugs, mousepads, ceramic tiles, caps, and more.
EMBROIDERY FACTS
What's required to get my design embroidered?
Before any embroidery work can be done you need a logo, text, or design that you would like embroidered on your apparel.
Will any file type work for my embroidery?
An image needs to be "digitized" into a file made of stitches in order for the embroidery machine to read the design. There is a fee to "digitize" your design but it is a one time only fee and any time you need that embroidery work done we then have the file to make it happen without additional charges. If you do not have a design we also offer graphic design services. We prefer to work from a PDF, EPS, AI, or CDR file when doing the digitizing on your design but we can also use pixel images, such as JPG, PNG, TIF. The higher quality the image the more accurately your design can be digitized for embroidery.
Are there pre-made designs to choose from?
All of our embroidery work is custom designed to the clients needs so your items will be one of a kind.
What is your minimum order amount?
We do minimum orders as low as one item but because of the digitizing fee keep in mind that it is more cost effective to do multiple pieces. Your apparel pieces can be in different sizes and colours.
How much will the embroidery cost?
Every embroidery design is different from the amount of stitches, colours of thread, number of garments, and setup (digitizing) involved.
SCREEN PRINTING
How do I prep the design files?
We require our files in a vector format; EPS, AI, CDR, or an uncompressed PDF since vector images can be scaled without losing quality. We also offer graphic design services if you need your design created for the job and we can do it in our preferred file types.
How much are the screen setup fees?
There is a less than minimum surcharge if we are printing less than 24 items. Any order with 24 or more pieces with the same print will not have set up charges. For an accurate quote please contact us.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, because of the set up for screen printing a minimum order of 24 items is required to move forward with your silk screening needs
Can I mix shirt sizes?
Simple answer is yes. Because there is various types of apparel prices may change from one order to another. The price will depend on a number of factors, including the type of shirt, how many items you're ordering, and how many colors are required for the silk screening process..
